Afternoon KidCare Activities Update
Early in March, we started keeping score of the Chicago Blackhawks exciting winning streak that lasted about 20 straight games. Our "scoreboards" remain up and we continue counting even though it is understood a spot in the playoffs is now a sure thing. Yay! Check the numbers. Our "goal" is to update after every game and we love the totals growing higher as they win. Let's Go Hawks!
We were "Lucky" enough to stay warm inside during a cold month and enjoy more time for coloring and making shamrocks, four leaf clovers and decorating our snowman with a leprechaun hat, beard and green necklace. It was time to shed the hat and scarf! None of us felt "green" with envy because we all enjoyed some time off to sleep in or do something different for Spring Break!
March Madness began on the "Road to Atlanta"! We made big basketballs and "predicted" what team (Louisville or Michigan) would win The Big Dance! For some students it was easy - just pick red or blue, no brackets to bother with. (better picture soon)
Some wondered, could it really be April? Or was it just another April Fools Day prank? We studied a jar with spring colored jelly beans and "guessed" how many were inside. Yum! Very few children guessed over 160, but that was the number it took to win the prize. We are hoping to get "showered" this month with food donations. if your family has an extra non perishable food item you would like to donate for our Kids Care effort - thank you in advance! This optional activity should create awareness of how many families are in need. The theme is "What will you put on the table?" We are told i in 6 children go hungry each day. Yikes! We Care and we will help.
Looking ahead, we plan to make a home made gift for our wonderful mothers. It will likely be a surprise, but don't ask for hints because the work has not yet started and it will be hard enough to get this "breakable" item home. We just know it will be a "homerun" for moms to receive anything our kids create. Better than gold - treasures as we grow old! The years fly by fast and so the season for our nation's favorite "past" time has begun. Makes you curious, do we have more Cubs or Sox fans? Possibly our young people cheer for both teams and feel very sincere about it. We will find out - most importantly, if it doesn't go our way - we won't pout.
It is so cool to think about all the fun we will since spring is here and summer is around the corner. In the meantime, please contact me at if I may answer any questions for you.
