District 28 posts local non-profit and community partner flyers here in the District's "Virtual Backpack." This approach allows us to provide information about community programs in a way that is environmentally friendly and cost-effective. Family Fun Day to Support Students in Kenya

The PTO Council presents the Family Fun Day from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. April 7 at Athletico, 1900 Old Willow Road, Northbrook. Activities include: inflatables, games and food. Tickets are $15/child or $40 for a family pass (adults are free!).  Tickets will be sold in advance at or at the door. Proceeds benefit the Fred Outa Foundation. This year’s fundraising will help sponsor the education of four children who live in the Kibera slum of Kenya.

PACSS Presents: Children's Nutrition

This workshop will address nutrition factors regarding a child's growth and development to adolescence 7 p.m .- 8:30 p.m. April 9. Details on presenters and RSVP.

Community Events

The Glenbrooks Present "The Little Mermaid"

Glenbrook students will present a Disney classic, “The Little Mermaid,” at 7 p.m. April 26-28 in the GBN CPA. There will be a 2 p.m. matinee performance on Saturday, April 28, where audience members can meet the cast after the show.

Based on one of the most beloved stories and the classic animated film, “The Little Mermaid” is a hauntingly beautiful love story for the ages. With music by eight-time Academy Award winner Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater, and a compelling book by Doug Wright, this fishy fable will capture your heart with its irresistible songs. Tickets cost $15 and are available at

Mother-Daughter Spring Tea

Dress up and enjoy and afternoon together beginning at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 7 at the Leisure Center. See registration and event info on the flier.

Bold Conversations and Social Emotional Learning

The University of Illinois Extension in Cook County invites parents to a one-day social and emotional learning chat & chew style seminar; designed to bring parents together, in a relaxed atmosphere, to have a respectful and honest exchange of ideas on how we can help our children address the challenges they may face. The event is being held April 7 from 9 a.m. to noon at the University of Illinois Extension office in Westchester. Click to register
